Meet the Team!
Hello, Anna Detar!
A message from Anna:
If you’re feeling overwhelmed and unsure of how to best help your child or yourself, you’ve come to the right place! In this practice, while working with your child and developing the therapeutic relationship, your child will be able to work through problems they are facing, such as anxiety, life changes, and trauma. Through the therapeutic relationship and the playroom, your child will have the opportunity to use toys to express how they are feeling in a safe and nonjudgmental zone. As an emerging clinician in the play therapy world, I have the benefit of a fresh set of eyes and a sense of change that your child could relate to when they first come to the playroom. Within the playroom, your child sets the pace and direction of the session, giving them a sense of comfort and control. My primary approach when working with children is Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), Adlerian play therapy, as well as the use of humanistic approaches with children and adults.
Prior to working at this practice, I have had experience working with adults facing mental health issues, such as individuals with anxiety, depression, and those who have experienced trauma. My love of therapy began when I was in middle school; I had always had a love for helping others, but I wasn’t sure what that would look like. After much encouragement from people in my life, I looked into social work and found the missing puzzle piece!
I earned my Master of Social Work from Keuka College, and I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW). My love of therapy grew as I gained more experience through my education and practicing at field placements. I have always loved working with children and play therapy has always had a special place in my heart. My love of play therapy grew even more after knowing someone in my personal life who had experienced play therapy as a child and the impact that it had on their life. Seeing the long-term effects of play therapy has just made my love for this profession grow.
Now that you know more about working with me professionally, I should share some fun facts about me. I am one of those people who would have pumpkin spice all year round if I could. Fall is my favorite season because of the symbolism of change in the leaves and I love comfy sweaters. Outside the office, you can find me in a coffee shop, or in a bookstore or library continually adding to my ever-growing to-be-read list. I have a wonderful fiancé I love spending time with, as well as our adorable two cats we have together.
Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have about my services! I look forward to working with you and your child.
Hello,
Diione Fox-Murch!
A message from Diione:
Hello! My name is Diione Fox-Murch, and most people call me “Dee.” I am so excited to join the team and have the opportunity to walk alongside children and families, offering support, tools and resources to help them meet their needs and goals!
I am native to the NY Finger Lakes region and my family and I enjoy exploring the outdoors during all seasons. I love to ski, run, hike, cycle, and swim and my family will usually agree to participate in these adventures together. I also love coffee, chocolate, and good conversations with friends and family. I have two young adult daughters and one son-in-law who are venturing out on their own, and one who is beginning her college career. We have two adorable dogs and a cat who tolerates us.
I work as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I earned my MSW from University at Buffalo. I started my professional life as a Special Education teacher and found my niche working one-on-one with students to help them build coping skills and feel more prepared to work toward academic goals. After pursuing my education in Social Work, I worked as a consultant for Head Start and provided therapy to children who were victims of sexual abuse. I currently work full-time as a School Social Worker at a Steuben County school where I support students with a variety of needs. I focus on social-emotional learning and advocating for students who need additional support to reach their academic goals. I will be joining Kelly and Anna part-time to help meet the growing mental health care needs of our community.
One of the most important factors of the client’s ultimate satisfaction with therapy is the relationship between the client and therapist. For this reason, I take the therapeutic relationship very seriously. When I begin working with a client, we start with exploring strengths and seek to increase the impact of what is going well. We will then explore what areas need to be addressed and what resources are available. This is accomplished through relationship building, education (for both myself and client) and goal setting. While facing these challenges can be painful and require hard work, I firmly believe it can be infused with fun to help the therapy process be more accessible and manageable. This is why I am such a big supporter of play therapy and play-based interventions! The majority of my work is with children, and I enjoy working with adults as well. I have experience supporting individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, and complex trauma. I am trained in Eye Movement Reprocessing and Desensitization therapy (EMDR), and I am working alongside Kelly to become a certified practitioner. You will also find me using the sand tray therapy, body movement, and creative arts in and outside of the therapy room. I look forward to having the opportunity to provide support, education, and resources to help you and your family flourish. If you believe this could be a benefit to you or someone in your care, please reach out to Emily Develle, Administrative Assistant, to begin the process of working together!
With Joy,
Diione Fox-Murch, LCSW
